Day four

Sorry for not posting on time but I was beat yesterday it was a long day of dodging thunderstorms.  The day stated out dryer then day three that was cut short by a line of severe thunderstorms.  so with clear sky's and nothing but pavement to run.  Leaving Grants heading to my original stop of Gallup MN.  I stopped at the famous El Rancho Motel, made famous by so many movie actors staying here while filming the westerns of the 50's and 60's.

From Gallup it was on AZ, from the state line till the painted desert was mostly I 40 as much of 66 is under it.  I few notable must stops are short sections of 66 in Holbrook, Joseph City and of course Winslow AZ,  You know so you can stand on the corner.

Many other spots along 66 are not safe to go to and best seen from I40 as much of these sights are now private property.  Like the twin arrows from Joe Dirt.

So with much of 66 under 40 the ride to Flagstaff was pretty uneventful, there was some nice riding even though it was interstate.

Since I was able to dodge these storms I decided once I got into Flagstaff I would take a side trip to the Grand Canyon since it was only about 80 miles away.

As I thought I beat the storms around Flagstaff I quickly discovered I was wrong as I was leaving the Canyon I saw even bigger storms forming

Luckily I was able to drive around it and make it to the hotel just a few drops started to hit the ground, the good news is tomorrow im on the other side of the Arizona divide and it should be dryer.  Tomorrow I will update Day five...
