Greetings the day has come to start out on my ride of route 66....But first we have to get to the starting line and that's what today was.  With the bike all loaded up it was time to hit the road the first thing this morning. I had a long day ahead as I needed to be in Chicago IL by today in order to keep on track. The ride out of North Carolina into VA was pleasant but over cast. Not to bad a little cool but that was short lived as I passed thru the Big Walker tunnel on I 77 into West Virginia,

Now the sun has found it way out and boy did it warm up fast, of course I wasn't doing much sight seeing as I have been up and down this road many many times.  However this was a good opportunity to tryout the ghetto pro camera.  I was please with the pictures it takes and so I figured many of you don't travel these roads for these few pictures (even though not Route 66)

This is a very pleasant drive especially on a motorcycle, of course you need to have cash as once in West Virginia; they just like the strip clubs on 77 want your dollars.
As the day wore on I was able to make great time as I made my way closer to Illinois the clouds started to move in and it was looking ugly.  Please note if there is even a 1% chance of rain it will find me. So at my last stop for dinner in Indiana with only 90 miles to Chicago the sky turned black.  So with a very quick dinner I was on the road and put Evel 1 in the wind to try my best to outrun this mess as safe as I can.

Lucky for me the only thing that made it rain was me giving the State of Illinois more dollars for tolls than both West Virginia and the strip clubs of West Virginia LOL.  The good news for me is I made it safe and sound and quite dry, might be getting a letter from the Toll commission.  Yea the last toll booth didn't take bills......PS I didn't visit any strip clubs either, however those signs sure make it look entertaining LOL
Well That's all for tonight, see you all tomorrow..............
