The End is Here

The last day of my route 66 adventure was just as exciting as the start.  Great weather to start the day in the High Desert of southern  California .  Leaving Needles on 66 to the lost town of Amboy CA.  Thanks to the owner of Juan Pollo restaurants this town is being resurrected.  He purchased the town form the estate of the original owners and in the process to restoring services and the buildings.  the ride on 66 in the desert is a bit tricky with the heat and the road isn't in the best shape in some places.  Right outside Catiz I had to detour to I 40 as the road was closed.  However I was able to rejoin before Amboy.

Once leaving Amboy I headed towards Barstow the view didn't change much till I reached my home town of Fontana Ca.  As I got to the inland empire and LA traffic was crazy and no way I could take any pictures as it wasn't too safe to do so.  The route takes you thru Fontana to the end of the route thru endless city's like Pomona, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and of course Santa Monica.

Well that's it what a great ride so worth it, now im on my way to Vegas and then taking the long way home Via Evel Knievel Days.

Day five stated out with dry sky's and stayed that way from Flagstaff to Needles CA.  So not to bore you with the details but laundry had to be done and the bike had to be washed but even with the late start I was making the most of my run to CA.  The road for the most parts was I40 till I got too Kingman and that's where I picked up Arizona's longest run of 66  from Kingman all the way  to the California state line.

Great little town on the route was Seligman AZ filled with cool little shops and a great hot dog joint the Roadrunner.

The last town on 66 in AZ is the famous town of Oatman AZ, this town has a lot of history and is famous for the wild jackasses that roam the streets.  These are direct decedent's of the Mules that were used when this was a mining town.  The road to Oatman is to say the least scary for those of you that have ridden the Dragon US129 that's nothing to a 3000 ft. elevation change in 9 miles on a gravel covered road with no guard rails.

yea no 911 just call the fire station.

Best place in Oatman to grab a beer.

once out of the mountain town the road got a little better and now I was free and clear to finish my day reaching Needles CA.

Ah Day five comes to an end in the town of Needles and after a good nights rest we start on the final leg of the Route.
